The story so far
Formed in May 1983 Fat Old Dad have been together for over 25 years and in this time they have appeared at many prestigious venues such as Arsenal Football Stadium and the 1500 seater Apollo Theatre Oxford to name just two. They have been interviewed twice on BBC Radio and also Ireland`s RTE Radio. They have performed at Butlins well over 40 times. Visited Belgium, Holland, and Ireland and appeared in cabaret for Bourne Leisure, Pontins, Park Holidays, The Gala Clubs, Stena Sealink and The Olau shipping Line.
In 2005 they performed in front of 10,000 people at the Broxbourne Firework Festival.
Fat Old Dad were also invited to perform at The MerseyBeatle Convention in Liverpool which is attended by 80,000 people who come to Liverpool from all over the world for this event. In (2006) they performed with Love Affair at the `Party in the Park` and Steve Scruton of BBC Radio Essex, who was compering the party, said of them on his radio show the following week ` it was my privilege to hear one of the best bands around - Fat Old Dad who, in my opinion, can compete with anyone out there`.
Over the years they have appeared with and supported many big name artistes:- David Essex, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Dreamers, The Searchers, The Fortunes, Mary Wells, Chubby Checker, The Crystals, The Supremes, The Fourmost, Marty Wilde, The Platters, The Drifters, Frank Carson and Keith Harris to name just a few.
In their 21st year they performed two celebration concerts at The Halstead Empire both of which were sold out. On Saturday 11th October 2008 they appeared in their 25th anniversary concert at The Halstead Empire theatre. They left the stage to a standing ovation.
They are four very experienced musicians who are well used to appearing in Theatres, Clubs, Holiday Parks, Outdoor Arenas and Dances. Completely self contained with a 2.5K PA and an excellent light show. They have an excellent rapport with their audiences and believe that it not just enough to play the music but that the audience should be entertained as well. |
