Only the earliest of Fender's six-string basses had this type of pickup and three selector switches.Mike owned a 1963 version with Jaguar style pickups and four switches. A set of strings cost nearly £18 in the early sixties - about a weeks pay !

Mike's Fender VI was sold to the band 'East of Eden' about 1970.
